Why do we want to know?
Home battery systems and generators are incredibly beneficial, but they can also cause potential harm to linecrews working on power lines. Even after cutting off power to a line in order to conduct repairs, batteries and generators can unexpectedly re-energize that line through a process called electrical backfeeding, which can pose serious threats to our lineworkers, such as electrocution.
Knowing which homes have batteries or generators can help our linecrew mitigate risks and stay safe while they keep your lights on.
