Stowe Electric Department lineworkers visited third graders at Stowe Elementary on Friday, April 11, 2025, to teach them about electrical safety. During the presentation, students got the opportunity to see and touch safety gear lineworkers use in their day-to-day work and learned how to improve electrical safety both inside and outdoors.

The presentation provided important information about common hazards around the home and offered up tips for kids to stay safe. Lineworkers Silas Power and Patrick Sikora discussed the specialized equipment required for working on power lines and demonstrated some of the tools used in the trade. Students also investigated a utility bucket truck up close and asked questions throughout the presentation.

Stowe Electric's visit to the school helped reinforce lessons learned during the electricity unit studied by third grade students earlier in the school year. In addition to providing valuable knowledge about electrical safety, Stowe Electric also hopes the presentation sparks student interest in pursuing future careers in the utility industry.
